On my healing journey sound healing found me. It started when a friend of mine played a Tibetan singing bowl for me. I had been dealing with IBS since I was 11, which was extremely painful. Nothing seemed to help the symptoms. After that one evening with the singing bowl, I had a full symptom free day. I immediately went online and purchased a singing bowl. I knew nothing about playing them, or which one I should buy, just bought one. I knew I would figure out the playing part if I just tried.
The bowl arrived and I was so excited to start using it. I did use it and it did help. I was not always consistent and would forget about it. Then remember and use it again. It was the beginning of realizing how sound could heal. I loved that bowl. I lent it to a friend, who moved and I never got it back. That was 14 years ago! I forgot about that beautiful little bowl. I never replaced it. I know, how could I forget something that helped. Well, self care was not something I gave much attention to back then. There was a long unfolding to learning self care care.
I started working with a community that focused on self healing through learning about oneself, healing trauma, expanding, growing and learning about self care. I met an amazing woman in this community who plays Tibetan bowls along with other instruments. She would sometimes open the gathering by playing the bowls and during the gathering place specific bowls on specific areas on the body and play them. It was during one of these gatherings when she placed a bowl on my heart center and played. It felt amazing! My body relaxed, my thoughts (monkey mind) went away. Then, I remembered that one little bowl that provided so much relief when I took the time to use it. And then, I again forgot.
Many years later, I remembered again how my body responded to sound and decided to take sound healing classes, which has birthed this website and blog. As I provide the sound healing sessions to clients, I also receive the healing of sound.
